• Internal and external morphology of the imago stage, soldiers and workers.
• Principles of taxonomy and nomenclature.
• Phylogeny and classification of termites.
• Main characteristics of families and subfamilies of termites.
• Taxonomic literature on termites.
• Practice: Taxonomy of termites based on soldier’s morphology.

Material requirement: Entomological forceps and other material – as teasing needles – to handle tiny insects.
