Preparation of figures for scientific journals:

• General principles and minimal standard quality of scientific figures.
• Design and sizing of figures.
• Type of figures: drawings, graphs, maps, photos.
• Use of camera lucida.
• Preparation of final art in vectorial format.
• Capture of images and photomontages (focus stacking).
• Afocal photography.
• Formats of graphic files accepted by scientific journals.
• Use of free software for scientific illustration: GIMP, Inkscape, R.

Material requirement: Each participant must have a personal laptop and basic draw material.
